The VP, Engineering will lead the technical strategy, roadmap, design, engineering, and implementation of all technical components of our SaaS Climate Management & Accounting Platform. This person will oversee the Data Engineering, Data Science, and Software Engineering (front end) team developing company SaaS products. This will be a highly collaborative and visible role working across the organization to lead and manage the development and implementation of the application, directly accountable for translation of product specifications and UX/UI designs into a data models, APIs, and highly usable front-end GUI of the SaaS platform and other external data services and web tools and applets.

• Oversee the translation of product features, carbon accounting standards, and

related data sets into data models, data architectures, API functions, and front-
end components for the SaaS platform and corporate website.

• Define, deliver, and maintain integration and technical roadmaps for the

SaaS platform and supporting tools and features.

• Build, secure, and document a highly usable, scalable, and reliable public API for

those customers wanting to utilize our capabilities without the assistance
of the front end interface.

• Ensure “pixel-perfect” execution of approved user interface designs. Implement

responsive web interfaces while ensuring the UI is built for speed, scalability,
reusability, and accessibility.

• Lead Data Engineering (back end) and Software Engineering (front end) while

working with Product Management (product leadership), Quality Assurance
(testing), Cloud Architecture, and DevSecOps to deliver Climate
Management & Accounting Platform with increasing speed and quality.

• Scale the existing developer teams from a current size of 50 to over 150

architects and developers.

• Provide technical oversight and leadership to the Data Engineering and Software

Engineering teams utilizing React, Typescript, GraphQL / Apollo, NextJS, a
modern atomic design web framework, Go, Python, Amazon Web Services,
MySQL, and Databricks.

• Work with business partners, technology partners, consulting partners,

customers, vendors, and others to develop new features and capabilities.

• Define, implement, and monitor key performance metrics (KPIs) and service

level agreements (SLAs), ensuring engineering and delivery maturity, and
strategic alignment with business objectives.

• Oversee departmental capital request process and budget.

• Attract, onboard, lead, develop, and grow technical engineering and

development talent.

• Proven technology leader (software and data) who has built and managed high

performing teams, instilling confidence, focus, and collaboration on a growing
team.

• Deep experience managing technical organizations delivering software for an

enterprise scale product.

• Highly proficient in data pipelines, transformation and processing, modeling,

services, and architecture.

• Proficient in modern atomic design web frameworks, utilizing React, Typescript,

GraphQL / Apollo, and NextJS. Experience with code consistency management
utilizing Prettier, ESLint, and StyleLint or similar.

• Experience with a mono-repo managed with Lerna or similar. Experience with

multiple testing tools, including Cypress or similar. Experience with the Atlassian
product suite including Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket Cloud.

• Experience delivering with modern technology solutions including Amazon Web

Services, MySQL, Snowflake, SQL, Go, Python, Databricks, microservices,
containerization, data virtualization, data streaming, data warehouses, data
lakes, and business intelligence platforms.

• Experience embedding and delivering with Agile methodologies.

Qualifications

• SaaS industry or enterprise application experience.

• 15+ years relevant software and data engineering experience.

• 10+ years of engineering leadership experience; leading cross-functional teams

and enterprise-wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across
organizations.

• Experience leading a global engineering team composed of employees and

contractors.

• 4-year degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information

Systems, Data Science, Mathematics/Statistics, or similar field.

• Graduate degree preferred.
