Job Description
The Underwriting Consultant works within the underwriting department, which is responsible for risk assessment. The Underwriting Consultant evaluates and classifies risk for life and LTC hybrid product to ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and procedures, and to ensure accordance with mortality and morbidity pricing. The role possesses the authority to postpone, decline, or add substandard ratings within defined approval limits.
  • Evaluate risk according to established guidelines

Required Education and/or Certifications
  • B.A./B.S. College Degree
  • Working toward FALU, FLMI, or CLU.
Recommended Education and/or Certifications
  • Completion of 1 or more industry designations (FLMI, FALU, etc.)
  • EKG interpretation/training
Required Work Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in Life underwriting insurance industry.
  • Approval Authority: Life $$2,000,000-$5,000,000; LTC Combo $1,000,000
