We are seeking an energetic and self-motivated Physician Assistant to serve as a surgical first assists for a variety of neurosurgical procedures. The ideal individual will have at least 2 years experience. (OR-based surgical subspecialty is preferred).

Knowledge of neurosurgical/spine surgical cases are a huge plus! The Physician Assistant will be assisting Neurosurgical attendings in the OR, writing post-op orders, and aiding in the flow of surgical cases. Job Responsibilities:
  • First assist in surgical cases, including but not limited to spine and cranial cases
  • Performs history & physicals, writes pre and post operative orders for requesting surgeons
  • Has a strong understanding of post operative pain management
  • Prescribes medications according to New Jersey State law, including controlled substances with DEA authorization
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, creative problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Maintains board certification
  • Maintains annual CME requirement for re-appointment and privileging
  • Maintains current expertise in area of practice
  • Promotes own professional growth and development in clinical role
  • Works collaboratively with the attending physician to maintain timely and appropriate communication
  • Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team including the attending physician and other PAs

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
  • 1-2 years experience in an OR-based surgical subspecialty
  • Master’s of Science in Physician Assistant Studies
  • New Jersey Physician Assistant License
  • New Jersey DEA License
  • New Jersey CDS License
  • ACLS, BLS
