Job Details

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Lab Scientist to join our dynamic team. As a key player in our diagnostic laboratory, you will be responsible for examining cells from body tissues to detect abnormalities in cell structure that may indicate cancer, precancerous lesions, or other diseases.

Responsibilities

1. Preparing and examining slides of body cells to identify abnormalities in the color, shape, or size of cellular components and patterns.
2. Using microscopes to perform detailed analysis of cellular specimens, identifying any abnormalities that may indicate disease.
3. Assisting pathologists in the collection and preparation of tissue samples for analysis.
4. Documenting and reporting findings to healthcare providers to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
5. Ensuring the accuracy and quality of tests, adhering to all laboratory protocols and standards.
6. Maintaining laboratory equipment and making certain all instruments are in good working order.
7. Staying updated with the latest advancements in cytotechnology and integrating new techniques into daily operations as appropriate.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in Medical Lab Science or a related field.
2. ASCP Certification is required within 1 year of employment.
3. Must have completed an accredited program
4. Proficient in the use of laboratory equipment and technology.
5. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively document findings and communicate with healthcare providers.
7. Ability to work independently and make critical decisions regarding specimen adequacy and results.
8. Knowledge of safety and infection control standards.
