DUTIES & RESPONSINBILITIES:
  • Lead development, validation and design-for-manufacturing of 3D printers and supporting products from concept to production. Innovate creative solutions for unique and challenging problems.
  • Ensure successful project releases to production, including designs, drawings, and specifications; build prototypes for proof-of-concept validation; create and maintain BOM’s; Documentation and release of ECO’s.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and test prototype assemblies.
  • Build engineering requirements from Product Engineering, establish and execute test plans adhering to requirements, and coordinate design reviews and regular project updates.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering in cross-functional projects. Identify mechatronic components (motors, fans, etc.)
  • Communicates with Service, Product, Purchasing, and Process teams to establish clear project requirements.
  • Execute engineering projects with the ability to assess small and large-scale tasks, identify resource needs, deliverables and generate accurate timelines/schedules. Create mechanical designs, physical prototypes, and presentation materials to effectively communicate ideas to teammates.
  • Perform failure analysis and provide detailed reports to prioritize corrective actions.
  • Maintain revision control and ensure security and fidelity of engineering data. Identify needs with regards to process, tools, and documentation, to optimize efficiency.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Strong background in machine or product design. Skilled in designing for sheet metal, CNC, cast, and injection molded parts.
  • Experienced using Solidworks for 3D CAD and 2D drawings. Knowledgeable in GD&T and tolerance stack up analysis.
  • Must have taken several products through the New Product Introduction development cycle; from idea to volume manufacturing.
  • Proven experience in development process, including specification, documentation, compliance, revision control, and BOM.
  • Hands-on experience fabricating with drills, drill presses, bandsaws, manual mills/lathes, etc.; able to build mechanical assemblies, troubleshoot, rework, and repair
  • Able to communicate and interact with internal Supply Chain and, manufacturer sales representatives, component distributors and, contract manufacturers
  • Bachelor’ s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's Degree preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience
