Job Details

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision and management of Fire Protection design department
Coordination with clients and the design team, including owners, architects, contractors, members of other disciplines, and internal support staff to ensure the design is consistent with the client’s vision, to ensure a fully coordinated interdisciplinary design, and to ensure the design schedule is maintained
Coordination with local jurisdictions from the point of preliminary design through the permitting process and construction completion
Preparation of superior quality fire protection construction documents including drawings, specifications, and reports for buildings in retail, restaurant, office, multifamily residential, and institutional market sectors
Design fire protection systems including all associated devices, equipment, and specifications.
Perform fire protection calculations required to support the fire protection design
Review fire protection submittal documents for contractual compliance and areas of conflict with all building systems
Work closely with equipment vendors and manufacturers’ representatives for selection and specification of appropriate equipment
Play an active role in project meetings with clients and colleagues
Assist in the preparation of superior quality Fire alarm device layouts and riser diagrams
Assist with growing our Fire Protection department

QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years of Fire Protection design experience involving fire sprinkler, fire pumps, and standpipe systems with a MEP engineering consultant or design/build contractor
Possess a two-year degree in Fire Protection Technology, Engineering Technology, Architectural Engineering, or Computer Aided Drafting
Must have good experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and/or Navisworks
Good working knowledge of NFPA codes and industry standards
Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills with ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks, and collaboration skills in a team environment
Desire to work in a fast-paced team environment to complete tasks accurately and efficiently
Highly motivated to always seek improvement in our internal processes and willing to take on new challenges
Strong preference for local candidates


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology with a Mechanical, Electrical, or Fire Protection emphasis
In possession of or eligible to obtain NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) Level III or higher credentials
Experience with AutoSprink Fire Sprinkler Design software
Experience in Fire Alarm System design with good knowledge of fire and life safety codes and NFPA 72, experience with developing fire alarm device layouts and riser diagrams.
Self-starter requiring minimal supervision
