We are recruiting for an Assistant Controller to join our client's growing organization in The Woodlands! Consistently recognized as a "Top Place to Work" by local business and real estate publications, our client is an established real estate development company that participates in all aspects of commercial, mixed-use, multi-family, office, medical, land development, recreational, and single-family home construction.

The organization is leader in the real estate industry and one of the largest privately held development companies in the State of Texas. The homebuilding division is in need of an experienced finance and accounting professional who can operate in a fast paced and creative environment that encourages out of the box thinking. The incoming Assistant Controller will report directly to the Controller and help manage a team of accountants and account payable coordinators.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Day-to-day oversigh of the homebuilding accounting and accounts payable department
  • Preparation of accurate and periodic financial reports
  • Formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best
practices
  • Review of journal entries and monthly reconciliations
  • Active participation in annual auditing and reporting process
  • Assist Controller with payout of sales commissions
  • Manage land/lot takedown as well as reconciling loan balances with lenders

Job Details

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in public accounting and relevant industry experience.
  • CPA certification preferred, but not required
  • Demonstrated leadership in team development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
