The Opportunity:

The Accounting Manager at this AmLaw 200 full-service law firm is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing, recording, and reporting of financial transactions. This role involves direct supervision of various accounting teams and collaboration with internal stakeholders to maintain financial integrity and compliance with established procedures.

Job Description:

  • Provide direct supervision, mentoring, and coaching to Cash Receivable Accountants, Accounts Payable Clerks, Client Trust Accountants, and Staff Accountant.
  • Assist the Director of Accounting in developing and enforcing accounting controls and procedures.
  • Coordinate all accounting functions, including regional office transactions, and review and maintain functional area checklists.
  • Ensure adherence to Firm's policies and procedures by New Orleans and regional office accounting staff.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify cost reductions, savings opportunities, and budget inconsistencies.
  • Prepare and ensure timely and accurate completion of the monthly financial reporting package.
  • Manage capital expenditure budget, projection summaries, and schedules of partner asset transactions.
  • Assist in preparing schedules and analyses for the annual budget and mid-year projections.
  • Cross-train accounting personnel and provide necessary training to new and existing team members.
  • Conduct performance reviews for New Orleans office accounting personnel.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing procedures accurately and timely.
  • Coordinate with Director of Accounting for a clean and timely year-end audit.
  • Prepare daily/monthly reports for Executive Director and Partners.
  • Manage compliance with unclaimed property regulations and ensure timely submissions to IRS.
  • Submit personal property rendition reporting and Sales and Use taxes reporting to all city/county offices.
  • Maintain professionalism, politeness, and courteousness in all interactions.
