Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing various accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank account reconciliations, financial reporting, and payroll processing. This role requires a proactive individual with strong organizational and communication skills, capable of maintaining positive relationships with clients, vendors, and team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform accounting duties for the organization, including coding invoices, setting up new accounts, reconciling accounts, and closing monthly books.
  • Prepare a comprehensive monthly report package for leadership, encompassing balance sheets, income statements, profit and loss statements, and statements of cash flow.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, verify deposits, and address inquiries from the bank to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Manage the payroll system, overseeing payroll processing, and handling quarterly and annual payroll filings.
  • Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; proficiently manage accounts receivable collections.
  • Ensure accuracy in client invoicing, following up with clients on past due payments as necessary.
  • Verify and process payment of invoices associated with accounts payable, ensuring proper allocation to the relevant accounts.
  • Coordinate with software vendors to maintain accounting software systems and recommend updates to enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the business development team to support the bids and proposals process.
  • Provide necessary reports for corporate insurance audits as requested.


Minimum Education, Skills, and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • At least five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to GAAP.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (Ex. QuickBooks, Sage, Yardi, etc.)
  • Commitment to staying updated on industry trends and developments through continuous learning, educational opportunities, and active participation in professional organizations.
