Staff Accountant

Our dynamic Transportation company is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Permanent Staff Accountant to join our team. This role is critical to our company's success and growth, as you will be responsible for maintaining and controlling the general ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records.

Responsibilities:

As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for a variety of financial tasks including but not limited to:

• Managing all aspects of day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting processes including but not limited to: A/P, A/R, payroll, journal entries, and bank reconciliations.

• Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports regarding net revenue losses, operating costs, and other expenses.

• Conducting regular ledger reconciliation and resolve any discrepancies.

• Assisting in the development and management of financial systems, budgeting, and forecasting.

• Providing strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization.

• Ensuring compliance with all internal processes.

• Developing and maintaining cost accounting system, documents, and records.

• Participating in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes.

• Implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting with a minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience, preferably in the construction industry.

Key qualifications include:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with AS400 is preferred.

• Demonstrated skills in managing A/P, A/R, General Ledger, and financial reporting.

• Experience with cost accounting and budgeting.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
