We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Sr. Underwriter to join our team. This role is pivotal in our organization as it involves assessing and analyzing risk, determining policy terms, and making critical decisions that directly impact our business and customers. The ideal candidate will have a background in Medical Stop Loss, Insurance, Risk Evaluation, and Analysis, with a proven track record of making sound judgment calls. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment with a team of dedicated professionals.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and underwrite high-level risk insurance applications within the Medical Stop Loss field.
• Analyze complex data to determine the potential risk of loss for the company, using statistical techniques and software.
• Develop and implement underwriting guidelines and negotiate terms with brokers.
• Collaborate with other team members to identify and implement efficient underwriting processes.
• Make recommendations for risk improvement and loss reduction.
• Review and update existing policies and guidelines in line with changes in the industry and regulatory environment.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients to ensure a high level of service is maintained.
• Provide training and guidance to junior underwriters and other staff members.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to strategic planning and decision-making processes.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Senior Underwriter, with a focus in Stop Loss insurance.
• Strong understanding of risk evaluation and analysis techniques.
• Proven ability to make sound decisions based on a thorough understanding of risk and business implications.
• Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and analyze complex data.
• Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to influence others and reach mutually beneficial agreements.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with brokers and clients.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Proficiency in using underwriting software and tools.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in related fields are a plus.
• Must be willing to continue professional development and stay up-to-date with industry trends and regulatory changes.
