Based in the Houston area, we are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Consulting Sr. Network Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be a part of an exciting, fast-paced environment, supporting our global energy operations. This position will focus on the design, implementation, and support of voice and data networks, with a particular emphasis on Cisco systems. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in data management, and bi-lingual capabilities (Spanish speaking) will be a distinct advantage.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

1. Design, implement, and support voice and data networks, ensuring high availability and system performance.
2. Provide technical leadership in the planning, investigation, design, and implementation of physical and logical communications solutions having network-wide impact.
3. Provide high-level technical support for voice and data network systems, create and maintain network documentation, maintain hardware and software standards, and work projects as needed in order to upgrade to new and/or improved communication equipment and procedures.
4. Develop and implement policies for network asset management, including lifecycle management, documentation and troubleshooting methodologies.
5. Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems, and ensure the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video, and wireless network services.
6. Collaborate with executive management and department leaders to assess near- and long-term network capacity needs, and where necessary, act as a liaison with vendors and service providers.
7. Conduct research and make recommendations on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
8. If bi-lingual, provide Spanish language support and liaison with Spanish-speaking stakeholders as needed.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Network Engineer, with a focus on voice and data networks.
3. Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
4. Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards, including Cisco systems.
5. Excellent hardware troubleshooting experience, and competent with various software and network operating systems.
6. Strong knowledge of data management principles and best practices.
7. Bi-lingual capabilities (Spanish speaking) are preferred.
8. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with the ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
9. Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
10. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
11. Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
12. Strong customer service orientation.
13. Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
14. Professional certification in CCNA/CCNP/CCIE is a plus.
