Job Details

Estimators are responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring knowledge of everything required to successfully bid and win the project. The sales estimator must be able to accurately analyze construction documents and specifications, utilize manual and
electronic estimation tools, create detailed material and labor take offs, write bid letters that include detailed scope and
cost of the HVAC project. Additionally, sales estimators must be able to build and maintain rapport with our customers
and vendors. Sales estimators also interface with Project Management to assist in budget and change order pricing.
Bid Administration
o Prepare and maintain status of Bid Documents of assigned projects
o Solicit and maintain communication with subcontractors and vendors
o Transmit addenda and other bid information to vendors
o Maintain effective two-way communication between Customer & and Vendor.
o Submit all bids and budgets in a timely manner, as dictated by the bid deadline – no exceptions
 Bid Creation
o Attend pre-bid meetings as required by project.
o Prepare work to be accomplished by gathering information and requirements, setting priorities.
o Prepare construction budget by studying plans; specifications; identifying and projecting costs for each
elevation.
o Take-off sheet metal poundage of projects, create material take-offs from bid drawings
o Obtain bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials, & identifying qualified
subcontractors
o Resolve cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
o Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
o Create and build detail bid package utilizing excel templates
o Create bid letter document utilizing word templates
o Maintain cost keys and price masters by updating information
o Maintain quality service by following organization standards.
o Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing
professional publications; establishing personal networks; participate in professional societies.
Qualifications
Required Academic Credentials, Certifications, Licenses:
 4-year degree in technical field desired
 10 years of experience in HVAC construction or related experience.
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial HVAC System Designs including:
  • Chilled water systems
  • Hot water systems
  • DX package systems
  • Hospitals
  • Industrial
  • Data centers
  • Office building (high rise and low rise)
  • Institutional
  • LPG and NG gas systems; low/2 psi/5 psi
  • High level of computer literacy including multiple software platforms; high level proficiency using Microsoft
Office; Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of estimating for TIC using MCI software
 Knowledge of HVAC systems applications with emphasis in installation methods and systems encountered in TIC.
 Working knowledge of accounting and job cost procedures and methods as it relates to estimating impact
 Ability to manage multiple projects per day with quick turning schedules typical
