Sr. Electrical Design Engineer PE – Minneapolis MN
The Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in the Twin Cities. The successful candidate will have 10+ years of experience and demonstrated a strong proficiency in LEED design and electrical design experience across a variety of commercial buildings (public sector, office, schools). You will be reporting to the Director of Electrical Engineering and will collaborate closely with our Designers, Engineers, and Project Managers.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET Accredited)
  • 10+ years of Electrical Engineering/Design experience with Engineering Consulting or Design/Build Firm.
  • P.E. License in Minnesota or ability to gain reciprocity Required
  • LEED Certification, highly preferred (Not Required)
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Revit Software.
  • Design experience in power distribution systems (primary requirement), lighting systems (interior, exterior, landscape), size motor feeders and starters.
  • Prepares engineering documents and equipment specifications to meet contracted scope of work and to ensure application of Electrical Engineering Principles (e.g. Ohms’ law, selective coordination, grounding, harmonics, etc.).
  • Has strong knowledge of Codes (e.g. NEC, NFPA, IBC, Life Safety Code, etc.).
  • Possesses a basic understanding of Architectural, Mechanical, Civil and Structural Engineering construction practices.
  • Develops estimates for assigned scope of work and is accountable for ensuring we stay within scope.
  • Creates project plan and schedule for execution of work.
  • May serve as project manager for complete projects, when assigned.
  • Actively manages assigned projects, driving them to completion. This will require a combination of strong delegation and follow-up, combined with personal execution of work as needed.
  • Supports the business development process through input to proposals, meeting and interviewing with prospective customers, etc.
  • Provides work direction to other team members, including subcontractors, as assigned.
  • Approves final equipment selections and drawing submittals.
  • Provides technical and engineering support to other departments/disciplines.
