Job Summary:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer operates within a dynamic multi-discipline team environment. The primary focus of this role is on crafting mechanical systems designs for new facilities, additions, and renovation projects. Responsibilities include offering technical leadership for the development of construction drawings and specifications, as well as engaging in existing system studies and master planning initiatives. Qualified candidates will collaborate with clients, project teams, code officials, contractors, and others to address mechanical issues and establish effective working relationships. The project portfolio spans various sectors, including K-12 Education, Higher Education, Commercial, Health Care, Science and Technology, municipal, and institutional Facilities.

In this role, your duties will encompass:
  • Developing HVAC system designs based on project scope or client RFPs
  • Providing engineering design, evaluation, and planning for mechanical systems across diverse market types
  • Conducting Load/Energy calculations using software like Trace 700, IES, and similar programs
  • Performing surveys and documenting existing HVAC systems in current buildings
  • Executing system design calculations and equipment selection for building use
  • Drafting and editing project specifications
  • Preparing detailed design documents, reports, and studies
  • Conducting research for code compliance
  • Coordinating work with other disciplines
  • Offering construction administration services
  • Conducting QA/QC of design work
  • Supervising and guiding junior engineers
  • Leading project teams and acting as the main contact for clients
  • Assisting in securing new work, including developing client relations and participating in project interviews

You would be an excellent fit if you have:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • LEED certification/experience
  • A minimum of 8 years of design experience
  • Knowledge in HVAC system design
  • Understanding of codes, standards, and design guidelines

Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Effective communication skills, coupled with organizational proficiency, and the ability to plan, balance, and prioritize work
  • Leadership capabilities and teamwork skills
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office
