SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER

As a senior mechanical engineer, your role encompasses translating conceptual designs into finalized machine blueprints. We anticipate you to exercise sound judgment and investigative skills to develop sturdy and efficient equipment with minimal guidance. This includes various machine types such as parts feeding systems, form-fill-seal loaders, intricate stations on automated machines, and machinery employing cam, servo, and pneumatic motion. The primary focus of your designs should address the following:

Performance: Enhancing the machine's capability to execute specified functions efficiently while ensuring longevity and ease of maintenance.
Cost: Streamlining expenses across all phases, encompassing design duration, procurement of parts, materials, fabrication, assembly, and debugging.
Delivery Time: Minimizing completion timelines across all stages, including engineering, part acquisition, fabrication, and assembly.

Ensuring conformity with customer machine specifications.
Developing effective solutions for design challenges.
Collaborating with design team members and other subject matter experts during the design phase.
Conducting necessary engineering calculations and documenting them in a reviewable format.
Generating 3D CAD assemblies and part models.
Selecting application-appropriate and cost-effective servos, gearboxes, pneumatic devices, and other commonly purchased machine design components.
Engaging in discussions regarding machine sequence, control requirements, and electrical components with relevant mechanical and controls design team members.
Choosing suitable materials of construction and coatings.
Creating detailed drawings adhering to accepted our client's and ASME standards.
Compiling Bills of Materials as per our client's requirements.
Applying knowledge acquired from our client's-administered Lean training.
Adhering to ISO9001 procedures for engineering, including reviews and information capture.
Providing technical support to fabrication and assembly teams during equipment fabrication, assembly, and debugging.
Assisting the Technical Writing team with Machine Manual content related to station designs.
Occasional travel to customer sites in support of our client's business.
Maintaining consistent punctuality and accurately recording job times.
Requirements

Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D software.
Ability to interpret various instructions provided in written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduling formats.
Strong problem-solving skills, especially in scenarios with limited standardization.
Comfort with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry.
Effective communication skills for presenting information and responding to queries from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Proficiency in report writing, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Work Environment

Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
Typically quiet noise level in the work environment.
Physical Demands

Regular sitting and verbal communication.
Frequent use of hands for handling tasks.
Occasional standing, walking, and reaching.
Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position with typical work hours from Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Overtime may be required as needed under the direction of the Mechanical Engineering Manager.

Travel

Occasional travel may be required with reasonable notice for installation, training, and service work.

Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelor of Science in an applicable field (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Automated Manufacturing Engineering, Physics, etc.).
7-10 years of engineering experience, preferably focusing on machine design or a related field.
Proficiency in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project).
Proficiency in 3D CAD Skills, specifically SolidWorks.
