Senior GIS Analyst

The Senior GIS Analyst holds a pivotal role within the organization, serving as the primary expert in GIS-related activities. This position demands an adept individual capable of working independently and collaboratively with various departments to address GIS needs effectively. It is important to note that this is an on-site position based in Berthoud, Colorado, with occasional evening or weekend work required for critical system maintenance.

Responsibilities:

Lead the analysis, design, and execution of diverse projects, occasionally functioning as a project manager.
Develop and implement modifications or enhancements to existing applications, adhering to established guidelines.
Coordinate with application vendors for system upgrades and issue resolution.
Utilize system tools proficiently to execute processes, including SQL queries, batch files, and Microsoft Office tools.
Conduct training sessions for District staff on GIS system usage and data collection equipment.
Generate or update GIS features based on construction drawings and field data.
Work closely with Engineering, Operations, and Customer Service/Administrative departments to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
Configure, administer, and maintain ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Server for mapping and data collection purposes.
Produce reports and maps as requested by staff and management.
Independently manage data collection projects, including utilizing GPS equipment and mobile devices.
Maintain GPS equipment and manage equipment budgets effectively.
Assist with vendor and product selections, contributing to long-term budget and process effectiveness.
Collaborate with consultants and software vendors for system integrations and upgrades.
Perform ArcGIS Server web-based server system administrator duties.
Utilize programming tools such as VB.NET, JavaScript, and Python for system enhancements and integrations.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in geographic information systems, geography, land surveying, civil engineering, or related field required.
Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in geodatabase administration and application development.
Proficiency in geodatabase design and administration, data modeling, database security, and performance optimization.
Experience in integrating geodatabases with other systems and databases.
Familiarity with GIS web services, web applications, and APIs.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to staff and management effectively.
Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently with minimal supervision.
Valid Colorado driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
