The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate bid estimates for mid-size projects/programs within a specific line of business, region, or division. This role plays a crucial part in planning projects to ensure efficient use of personnel, equipment, materials, and subcontractors, all while meeting contract requirements, time guidelines, and other project-specific constraints.

The Senior Estimator should have a comprehensive understanding of estimating and cost control within the construction industry. This position requires adherence to the company’s established project management methodologies and a commitment to safety and quality management standards.

As a Senior Estimator with a strong background in construction estimating, including the ability to read and interpret detailed prints and specifications. You will be responsible for conceptual, lump sum, or unit pricing, and must be proficient in using computerized bidding software and MS Office applications.

Responsibilities:

1. Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for projects or services.
2. Conduct site visits to gather information on project conditions and requirements.
3. Prepare and present cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals to ensure that budget guidelines are met.
4. Use computerized bidding software to prepare accurate and competitive project estimates.
5. Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients, and contractors on estimates.
6. Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
7. Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
8. Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
9. Establish and maintain tendering process and conduct negotiations.
10. Ensure bid deadlines and customer presentation requirements are met.
11. Assist in developing and implementing estimating guidelines.

Qualifications:

1. BS degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating.
3. Proficient in reading and interpreting detailed prints and specifications for conceptual, lump sum, or unit pricing.
4. Experienced in using computerized bidding software and MS Office applications.
5. Strong understanding of the major business components and implications specific to estimating and cost control for Construction Companies.
6. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
7. Ability to travel to job locations to confirm project site conditions and assist field personnel in developing and/or recommending change orders to scope as needed.
8. Proven track record of ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.
9. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
10. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
