We are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our dynamic team in the Manufacturing industry. This role is pivotal in developing and maintaining the architecture of our data systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, with extensive experience in building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and data sets. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in working with cross-functional teams, demonstrating excellent problem-solving abilities, and showing a deep understanding of data analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, construct, test, and maintain highly scalable data management systems.
  • Design and implement data tools for analytics and data scientist team members to assist them in building and optimizing our product.
  • Build robust, efficient and reliable data pipelines to move data across a variety of systems.
  • Utilize AWS Kinesis, Aurora, and Sagemaker to ingest, transform, and distribute numerous data streams.
  • Develop and deliver large scale data structures and pipelines to organize, collect and standardize data to generate insights and addresses reporting needs.
  • Collaborate with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.
  • Investigate and implement new technology and tools to enhance the capabilities of the team.
  • Ensure data architecture will support the requirements of the business.
  • Develop processes for optimizing database security.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role.
  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
  • Experience building and optimizing 'big data' data pipelines, architectures and data sets.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong experience with AWS big data technologies (Kinesis, S3, EMR).
  • Experience with AWS data lake ecosystem (data cataloguing, data cleansing, data security) and AWS managed services (Lambda, Kinesis, EMR, Sagemaker, Aurora).
  • Experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, etc.
  • Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools.
  • Experience with AWS cloud services: EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift.
  • Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
