Job Details:
We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Senior Buyer to join our team in the distribution industry. This role is a critical part of our procurement team, responsible for overseeing purchasing activities and ensuring that purchased items are both cost-efficient and of high quality. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of supply chain management concepts, and an ability to negotiate to secure the best prices. This role will also require a solid understanding of packaging processes and a proficiency in Excel.

Responsibilities:
1. Develop, lead, and execute purchasing strategies in alignment with company goals.
2. Evaluate supplier options according to prices, quality, etc. and determine the most cost-effective deals.
3. Negotiate with external vendors to secure advantageous terms and manage contracts with suppliers.
4. Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
5. Conduct market research to identify pricing trends.
6. Evaluate and enhance operational performance with an aim to improve processes and reduce costs.
7. Collaborate with key persons to ensure clear communication of the specifications and expectations of the company.
8. Oversee the work of purchasing agents and procurement specialists.
9. Understand and manage risks associated with supply contracts and agreements.
10. Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs.
11. Develop plans for purchasing equipment, services, and supplies.

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field.
2. Proven 3+ years of experience as a buyer or relevant role in the industrial space.
3. Solid knowledge and understanding of purchasing processes, policy, and systems.
4. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office software.
5. Experience in negotiating and sustaining relationships with suppliers.
6. Excellent decision-making and leadership capabilities.
7. Ability to analyze market trends and buying patterns.
8. Strong understanding of the packaging processes in the manufacturing industry.
9. Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
10. Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
11. Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
12. APICS, CPM, or CSCP certification would be considered an asset.
