Job Details

We are seeking a Senior Professional Development Manager for our Attorney Integration Division to serve as a central point of contact for lawyers, facilitating their integration, development, and professional growth within our firm. This role involves designing and implementing onboarding programs, coordinating performance reviews, and supporting various committees in strategic planning initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a proactive mindset, and a commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.

Job Description:
  • Serve as a trusted resource for lawyers, addressing questions and concerns and guiding them to the appropriate channels for resolution.
  • Develop and enhance new lawyer onboarding programs, ensuring a smooth integration process.
  • Evaluate existing orientation procedures and recommend improvements to enhance the onboarding experience.
  • Design integration programs and tools for both new hires and lateral lawyers to facilitate their transition into the firm.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Compensation and Review Committee to oversee the annual performance review and compensation-setting processes for associates.
  • Coordinate performance reviews for patent agents and income partners.
  • Support income partners in their professional development goals and provide ongoing feedback and guidance.
  • Engage with lawyers and patent agents to understand their career aspirations, strengths, and development needs, supporting their short and long-term goals.
  • Assist the Income Partner Development Committee in preparing income partners for promotion.
  • Work closely with Practice group Leaders, Committees, and partners to develop and implement training, mentoring, and leadership development programs.
  • Identify internal and external training resources, develop training materials, and oversee the delivery of training sessions.
  • Train and motivate senior lawyers to mentor and provide feedback to junior associates effectively.
  • Collaborate with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusiveness Committee to implement important initiatives and firm-wide training programs.
  • Prepare and analyze reports and data related to performance metrics, budget allocation, and professional development initiatives for firm leadership.
  • Manage the professional development budget, ensuring alignment with firm priorities and future needs.
  • Stay informed about trends and best practices in adult learning, legal training, and professional development, making strategic recommendations.
  • Support various firm initiatives such as the Annual Trial Academy Program and Ascend Program for high performers.
  • Conduct data analysis on billable hours, retention rates, and partner candidate metrics, providing insights to firm leadership.
  • Lead the Professional Development team in executing the above responsibilities effectively.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degree or certification in Human Resources or Organizational Development preferred.
  • Previous experience in professional development, talent management, or related field within a legal or professional services environment.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
