Job Details

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Accountant to join our government agency. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the overall management and financial reporting of our organization. This includes the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. Responsibilities:

1. Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
2. Prepare and analyze financial statements for internal and external purposes.
3. Manage the process for the preparation of the company's budget and financial forecasts.
4. Implement and enforce financial controls and policies to ensure the integrity of financial data and reporting.
5. Coordinate with external auditors and manage internal controls.
6. Manage the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
7. Collaborate with the management team to support overall department goals and objectives.
8. Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
9. Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
10. Respond to inquiries from the director of finance, firm-wide manager, and other finance and firm-wide managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests, etc.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. A minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a senior auditor.
3. Strong working knowledge of Management Accounting, Financial Statements, General Ledger, Financial Accounting, Financial Auditing, and Internal Controls.
4. Excellent computer skills on MS Office, accounting software, and databases.
5. Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
6. Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
7. High attention to detail and accuracy.
8. Ability to direct and supervise.
9. CPA or CMA preferred but not required.
10. Excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts.
11. Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interfacing with all levels of internal and external audit and management.
12. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
