Senior Accountant

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee and manage the general ledger. You will be responsible for maintaining and reconciling all ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

2. Develop and implement internal controls. As a Senior Accountant, you will be expected to identify areas of risk and implement measures to prevent financial loss. Your role will involve developing, implementing, and monitoring internal controls to safeguard company assets.

3. Manage costing processes. You will be responsible for developing and implementing costing strategies, including cost accounting, job costing, and product costing. Your role will involve analyzing and interpreting cost data and providing recommendations to management to optimize financial performance and strategic position.

4. Prepare financial statements and reports. You will be responsible for preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Your role will involve analyzing financial data, preparing reports, and presenting findings to management.

5. Coordinate with external auditors. As a Senior Accountant, you will be expected to liaise with external auditors during audits and assist with audit preparation and completion.

6. Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

7. Provide leadership and support to junior accounting staff. As a senior member of the team, you will be expected to mentor junior staff, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional development.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. An advanced degree or professional certification (CPA, CMA, etc.) is preferred.

2. A minimum of 3 years of experience in a senior accounting role, preferably in the manufacturing industry.

3. Proven experience with general ledger functions, internal controls, and costing.

4. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.

5. Excellent analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.

6. Ability to manage, guide, and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used.

7. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills.

8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.

9. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

10. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
