As a Senior Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our payroll team. This hybrid position allows for a balance of remote and on-site work, offering flexibility while still fostering team collaboration. You will be responsible for overseeing our financial procedures, from maintaining accurate journal entries and payroll calculations to ensuring the effectiveness of our systems and controls. This role requires a dynamic individual with a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of the US and Canadian payroll systems, and a drive for continuous process improvement.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee and manage journal entries, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
2. Handle Payroll Calculations & Reporting, ensuring accurate system calculations and timely reporting of US and Canadian payrolls.
3. Monitor Systems & Controls, ensuring they are effective and efficient.
4. Drive continuous process improvement initiatives to optimize financial operations.
5. Utilize Microsoft Office Suite tools, particularly Excel, Power BI, Power Query, and/or Power Automate, to handle large datasets and influence decision-making processes.
6. Work within payroll systems and processes including PeopleSoft, ADP, and time & labor systems.
7. Collaborate with other departments to ensure accuracy and compliance in all financial matters.

Qualifications:

1. A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in accounting, finance, or related field. Public accounting experience is preferred.
2. At least 2 years of experience as a payroll accountant.
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on intermediate to advanced Excel, Power BI, Power Query, and/or Power Automate. Experience in handling large datasets is a must.
4. Experience working within payroll systems and processes. Knowledge of PeopleSoft, ADP, and time & labor systems is a plus.
5. Strong understanding of US and Canadian payroll systems and regulations.
6. Demonstrated ability to drive continuous process improvement initiatives.
7.One or more certifications preferred: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC), CAN Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP), or Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
8. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and other departments.
