Job Details

The Retro Commissioning Project Manager/Engineer holds overall responsibility for assigned projects of low to medium scope and complexity. Duties include planning and executing a specific project plan, delivering quality products and services to the client in a timely manner, managing project financials, and serving as the primary contact between the project team and the client. The Cx Project Manager I ensures that projects are executed according to the plan and is responsible for the results of assigned projects (total Project Success).



Key Responsibilities:



Completes and maintains project schedule/ work and directly supports to Team Leader, Manager of Existing Building Commissioning and Sr. Project Managers.
Completes definition of project scope, requirements and schedule with the client and communicates scope and requirements to the project team.
Schedules work, communicates schedule information to the project team.
Analyzes information gathered from building plans, specifications, and documentation.
Facilitates communication between the client and the project team and documents important issues.
Regularly attends project update meetings with both clients and team members.
Works to address client needs while managing client expectations.
Coordinates with sub-contractors on project needs, schedules, and deadlines.
Monitors, manages and advises appropriate Program staff regarding “scope creep,” as necessary.
Participates in prospective project interviews as necessary.
Communicates directly with client representatives, external project team, industry professionals, and potential clients under the supervision of Manager of Existing Building Commissioning, Project Manager or Sr. Project Manager.
Participates in the planning and budgeting processes - including preparation of monthly billing as required by general management.
Reviews projects performance as necessary.
Engages in self-education and training in order to keep up with current industry trends and changes.
Conducts targeted, technical meetings for internal and external customers
Acts and performs activities inside and outside the office consistent with ethical engineering standards in the company handbook.
Completes the project scope and requirements with the client and other stakeholders and communicates project scope and requirements to the project team
Prepares and implements a proactive Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) plan for projects
Oversees the profitability of the project by negotiating fees and contracts as may be appropriate, participating in the budgeting process, and ensuring that invoices are accurate and delivered in a timely manner
Identifies, negotiates, and administers fees for additional services
Schedules work, communicates schedule information to the project team, and monitors manpower requirements
Facilitates communication between the client and the project team; documents important issues
Coordinates activities of the project team and contractors during the design and construction phases
Performs project job site visits to investigate field conditions, monitor progress, and ensure conformance to design specifications, owner expectations, and building codes during construction
Performs specific engineering studies and other design analyses using industry software
Coordinates with other disciplines to determine equipment needs, implement operating procedures, and provide technical information
Participates in planning and budgeting processes, which includes preparing monthly billing projections and budget metrics as required by management
Monitors accounts receivables on projects and initiates corrective action as needed
Supervises the job closeout process to ensure documentation, lessons learned, and filings are complete


An ideal candidate will possess the following requirements:

BSME, with 6-10 years of applicable experience.
Professional Engineer license (not required, but a plus)
CEM and CxA (not required, but a plus)
Commissioning and/or retro commissioning experience
Energy Audit experience and Energy Modeling experience
Experience with Utility Demand side management is a plus
Contracts and project management are a plus
Building Automation Systems, Direct digital controls, HVAC systems, and design experience are big plus
Technical report writing experience with Office, Excel, PowerPoint (with samples provided) is a must
Time-management skills, Presentation skills, Strong interpersonal skills, and Problem-solving skills are a must.
