Job Summary:
Develops methodology for inspecting products throughout all stages of production by working with internal Quality Technicians, Machinists, Process/Manufacturing Engineers, Leadership Team, and the Customer. This includes the development of control plans, in-process inspection plans, and customer data packages. Involves interpreting complex GD&T requirements and determining optimal inspection equipment and fixturing. Provides backup/assistance to Quality Technicians as needed.
Essential Functions:
The primary duties and responsibilities are to:
- Interpret highly complex blueprints with sophisticated GD&T and tight tolerances.
- Develop Control Plans detailing the inspection process throughout the manufacturing process.
- Determine necessary inspection equipment and fixturing to evaluate product efficiently and accurately.
- Create methods/forms for collecting data in support of the Control Plans.
- Use SolidWorks Inspection to create ballooned drawings.
- Convert complex customer requirements and quality clauses to compile an accurate, submittable data package containing all required information, following AS9102 as required.
- Prepare Certificates of Conformance and associated quality paperwork needed for standard shipments.
- Work with the Quality and Operations teams to implement the Control Plans and data collection.
- Measure parts using basic tools such as micrometers, calipers, pins, height stands on surface plates etc., and advanced tools such as vision systems and manual or programmable CMMs.
- Participate on the following teams, when required: Material Review Board, Corrective/Preventive Action, Process FMEAs, Internal Audit, and Continuous Improvement.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a quality assurance function within a precision, tight-tolerance, machining environment
Preferred:
- Four-year technical degree in a related field
- GD&T Certification
- CMM Programming Experience (Calypso a plus)
- Experienced with SolidWorks Inspection
