Purchasing Agent

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent to join our fast-paced construction team. This is an exciting opportunity to manage all aspects of purchasing for our residential construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the procurement process, including sourcing materials, negotiating with suppliers, and coordinating deliveries. This role is integral to our success, ensuring that we deliver high-quality homes on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:

• Manage all aspects of purchasing for residential construction projects, including sourcing materials, negotiating with suppliers, and coordinating deliveries.
• Use bidding software to evaluate and choose suppliers based on cost, quality, and delivery speed.
• Participate in project bidding to ensure we have the necessary materials and resources to complete projects successfully.
• Work closely with builders, project managers, and other team members to understand project requirements and ensure all purchasing activities align with project goals.
• Estimate the cost of homebuilding materials and labor to assist in budgeting and financial planning.
• Manage relationships with vendors, ensuring they meet our standards for quality, price, and delivery.
• Keep up-to-date with market trends and changes in the construction industry to identify potential new suppliers and products.
• Develop and implement purchasing strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in purchasing, preferably in the construction industry.
• Experience with bidding software and project bidding.
• Knowledge of residential construction and homebuilding estimating.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Excellent negotiation skills, with a proven track record of securing favorable terms with suppliers.
• Strong relationship management skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with vendors.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
