Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, lead, and execute purchasing strategies.
  • Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms.
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation.
  • Forecast price and market trends to identify changes in balance in buyer-supplier power.
  • Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking.
  • Assess, manage, and mitigate risks.
  • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers.
  • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries.
  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand.
  • Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
  • Control purchasing department budgets.
  • Review, evaluate, and approve specifications for issuing and awarding bids.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies.
  • Prepare reports regarding market conditions and merchandise costs.
  • Administer on-line purchasing systems.
  • Arrange for disposal of surplus materials.

Qualifications:

  • Proven working experience as a purchasing manager, agent, or officer.
  • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management.
  • Interest in market dynamics along with business sense.
  • A knack for negotiation and networking.
  • Working experience of vendor management software.
  • Ability to gather and analyse data and to work with figures.
  • Solid judgement along with decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership capabilities.
  • BS degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Experience in the residential construction or home building industry is a plus.
  • Proficient in preparing detailed reports and financial analyses.
  • Excellent understanding of budgeting and financial planning.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of preparing purchase orders and coordinating with vendors.
  • Outstanding negotiation skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and purchasing software programs.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to handle high-stress situations and tight deadlines.
