Project Manager – Heavy Highway

A well-established construction company has secured a significant project in collaboration with the state's transportation department to enhance broadband internet infrastructure in key districts. We are inviting experienced project managers to lead sections of this pivotal project and contribute to its success.

Role Overview:

Join our Heavy Highway Project Management team to oversee strategic state infrastructure projects. This role requires expertise in heavy civil construction areas such as earthwork, paving, underground utilities, and concrete work. Based in our regional office in the East Bay area, the Project Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the project's success.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of the project including technical details, project management tasks, contract issues, change orders, financials, billing, and scheduling.
  • Ensure the project is completed to a high standard, within budget, safely, and on time.
  • Work closely with field operations and senior management to develop and update project strategies and plans.
  • Foster strong relationships with project stakeholders, including local owners, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, to ensure all project objectives are met.

Position Requirements:

  • Over 15 years of experience in project management within the heavy civil construction sector.
  • At least 10 years of experience working on projects involving state transportation departments, with a focus on meeting specifications and budgets.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong leadership abilities, capable of facing challenges, solving problems, and motivating team members.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, effective communication, and consensus-building capabilities.
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as PlanGrid, Smartsheet, and HCSS HeavyJob, as well as Microsoft Office suite.
  • QSP certification and a deep understanding of safety and regulatory requirements.

What a Typical Day Looks Like:

  • Coordinate planning, scheduling, and execution of the project, ensuring compliance with design and contract specifications.
  • Manage project costs effectively and lead project meetings.
  • Address and manage changes through effective change order requests.
  • Ensure a safe, secure, and respectful work environment through rigorous safety and quality control measures.
