As a Permanent Project Engineer in Public Works, you will be at the forefront of our mission to develop and maintain the public infrastructure that supports our communities. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team responsible for the design, planning, and supervision of various public works projects ranging from road improvements and water management systems to public buildings and parks. You will be working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment that values innovation and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

1. Design, plan, and supervise various public works projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
2. Utilize AutoCAD to prepare detailed engineering designs and drawings.
3. Conduct hydraulic and hydrologic modeling using HEC-RAS for flood control projects.
4. Prepare project specifications and cost estimates.
5. Coordinate with other engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
6. Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
7. Prepare and present project reports and updates to stakeholders and the public.
8. Stay updated with the latest engineering trends and technologies to improve project efficiency and effectiveness.
9. Address any project issues or delays, implementing solutions to minimize impact on project timeline and budget.
10. Maintain accurate project documentation and records.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
2. A valid Professional Engineering (P.E.) License.
3. A minimum of 3 years of experience in public works engineering or a related field.
4. Proficiency in AutoCAD and HEC-RAS.
5. Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices, particularly as they relate to public works projects.
6. Excellent project management skills, with a proven ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
8. Ability to solve complex problems and make sound engineering decisions.
9. Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to high-quality work.
10. Willingness to continue learning and developing professionally.
