This role offers a unique opportunity to manage critical aspects of this transformative initiative.

Role Overview:

As a Project Engineer, you'll be a central figure in the management of Job Order Contracts for large-scale highway construction projects. Your responsibilities will include the coordination and oversight of all technical, project management, and administrative tasks. You'll work closely with a dedicated team, stationed primarily at our regional office in the East Bay area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with field operations experts to develop and refine project strategies, ensuring all goals are met efficiently and effectively.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to achieve outstanding project outcomes.
  • Contribute to a culture of respect and community engagement, upholding the foundational values established by the firm's founders in the early 20th century.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a Project Engineer role, with specific experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Familiarity with public work projects and specifications, ideally with experience on state transportation department projects.
  • Strong leadership skills and a proven ability to address challenges, solve problems, and inspire team members.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in project management software; knowledge of PlanGrid, Smartsheet, and HCSS HeavyJob is a plus.
  • QSP certification is desirable.

What to Expect:

  • Plan, schedule, and execute projects according to specifications, ensuring all project goals are met.
  • Monitor project costs and manage finances to optimize financial outcomes.
  • Participate in project meetings and ensure effective communication and coordination of new purchase orders and subcontractor change orders.
