Project Accountant

Due to growth, we are looking to add a Project Accountant to the team. As the Project Accountant, your key responsibility will be to serve as a vital team member associated with accurately and consistently completing the accounting functions for the assigned project. This position will be located in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Responsibilities

1. Oversee the financial aspects of construction projects, including budgeting, cost accounting, and financial reporting.
2. Collaborate with project managers to develop project budgets and financial forecasts.
3. Monitor project costs and compare them with budgets to identify and explain variances.
4. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements for each project.
5. Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported.
6. Use ERP systems to track project costs and generate financial reports.
7. Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
8. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
9. Provide financial advice and guidance to project managers and other stakeholders.
10. Participate in financial audits and assist in the resolution of audit findings.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. An advanced degree or professional certification such as CPA, CMA, or ACCA will be an advantage.
• Experience in project accounting, preferably in the construction industry.
• Experience with ERP systems. Experience using a Job Cost ERP System is a plus. Viewpoint is preferred.
• Knowledge of AIA Documents.
• Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with Lien waivers, sworn statements, and XBE reporting.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
