Job Details

Provide process design services in a growing engineering consulting company. The position has the opportunity to work on all aspects of process design in projects for the chemical and petrochemical industries. The candidate should possess the knowledge and understanding of basic process design deliverables and calculations including the development of PFD’s, material and energy balances, utility balances, equipment sizing
and specification, P&ID’s, and relief system analysis. Design skills and expertise will be utilized in conceptual design studies and preliminary/detailed design projects.

The candidate performs and checks process calculations and designs using both computer aided and manual design techniques. He/she assures that all designs and equipment meet applicable engineering codes and standards and follow good engineering practices.
Detailed design work includes: development of process and equipment descriptions; P&ID development; equipment sizing/re-rating/specification; materials of construction selection; checking of manufacturer’s drawings and data for compliance with specifications; reviewing piping and layout drawings; assisting in preparing control and interlock logic; providing functional guidance to designers/developers; assisting in
process safety reviews; writing reports and assisting in proposal preparation; reporting progress against established schedule milestones.

The candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment and possess a proactive attitude to project execution. Good verbal and written communication skills are required to ensure effective communication and interface with clients and other project team members. Good organizational and documentation skills are needed along with the ability to work under deadline pressures. Also, should be able to manage small projects

The position requires a B.S. in Chemical Engineering with a minimum of fifteen years of process design experience in the chemical or petrochemical industries either in an operating company or E&C environment. PE registration is a plus.
