Mid-Level Real Estate Attorney (Litigation)

We are actively recruiting for an experienced real estate attorney for our client's Manhattan offices. The opportunity is with a specialized and well-respected real estate firm that exclusively participates in all areas of complex real estate litigation and trial, including landlord-tenant disputes (commercial and residential), appellate litigation, condominium & cooperative representation, mortgage financing and banking, housing discrimination, land use, construction litigation and administrative proceedings among others.

We are seeking an attorney with at least 4 years of experience in real estate litigation, ideally in state Supreme Court and federal court systems. Previous trial and appellate experience is strongly preferred, but not required. You will join and established team of highly regarded attorneys who vigorously advocate for their clients on a variety of complex issues. A strong written and oral advocacy skillset is required for success in this role (writing samples will be requested ahead of the interview process). Interested candidates should be able to confidently handle all pre-trial aspects of complex real estate litigations including initial pleadings, discovery, researching and drafting motions, attending court conferences and making motion appearances, and taking/defending depositions.

Job Responsibilities:

• Vigorous advocacy for clients in court when litigation arises

• Offer mediation and negotiation services to resolve disputes outside of court

• Maintain current knowledge about the specific laws and regulations that apply to New York real estate law

• Provide legal counsel and representation to landlords and/or tenants on matters related to residential and

commercial leases, evictions, disputes, and compliance with New York housing laws and regulations

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience in complex real estate litigation. Trial and appellate experience strongly preferred

• Previous experience representing clients in state Supreme Court, state and federal court systems

• Admitted to New York State Bar

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school

• Demonstrated history of success in real estate litigation and law and motion practice

• Strong negotiating, drafting and legal research skills
