Job Details

We are currently seeking a dynamic and highly-skilled Lead Project Engineer to join our innovative team in the Space Industry. The successful candidate will be an integral part of our engineering team, working on complex systems, and providing direct communication with our clients. This role is ideal for a motivated individual with a strong technical background in deployable structures, solar arrays, and a passion for designing and implementing complex space hardware. This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your skills and expertise in a challenging and exciting role, where you will be able to make a significant impact on our projects and processes. This position would start in a full-time consulting capacity with the ability to move into a permanent position long-term.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert consultation in the design, development, and implementation of complex space hardware.
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for the production of space hardware, photovoltaics, and composites.
  • Utilize SolidWorks to create detailed 3D models and designs for mechanical systems.
  • Design, test, and implement mechanisms and systems to improve manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
  • Develop comprehensive test plans to ensure the functionality and reliability of mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that the mechanical systems align with the overall project objectives.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues, providing innovative and effective solutions.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in mechanical systems engineering.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Proven experience with space hardware, photovoltaics, and composites.
  • Expertise in SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanism design and development.
  • Experience in creating and executing test plans.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
