Loan Officer (Ag)

Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Junior Loan Officer with a background in agriculture to join our team at our Elbow Lake branch. This role is ideal for individuals with a deep understanding of the agricultural sector, whether from growing up on a farm, involvement in ag production, or experience in ag-related analysis. The focus of this position will be on managing smaller agricultural loan deals, with potential involvement in underwriting and various other facets of banking as the role expands.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development and management of agriculture loans and consumer loans.
• Work closely with agriculture customers, managing ag files and supporting the branch manager in day-to-day operations.
• Participate in underwriting processes for agriculture loans.
• Contribute to the expansion of the branch’s role in the community.
• Engage in continuous learning and development through shadowing and organized education provided by trade associations.

Requirements:

• Proven background in agriculture, either through direct experience in ag production, lending, analysis, or a personal connection to farming.
• Understanding of grain and commodity prices, farm ecosystem, and lifestyle.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of customers.
• Willingness to engage in various aspects of banking beyond agriculture lending, as required.
• Based on experience, the ability to handle a volume of transactions and manage smaller lines of credit.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business, Finance, or a related field is a plus.
• Experience in lending or financial analysis is preferred, but not required.
• Experience in loan handling or portfolio management is a plus.
