Lead Mechanical Design Engineer PE

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineers to join our team. Successful candidates will have 8+ years of Mechanical Engineering/Design experience with an Engineering Consulting or Design/Build firm. Professional Engineering License (PE) with local experience performing Mechanical / HVAC Systems Design using AutoCAD or Revit Software. Projects consist of various Commercial Projects, Healthcare & Medical, Educational Facilities, Retail & Mixed-Use Developments, Multifamily, etc. for New Buildings & Existing facility upgrades. Responsibilities will include all aspects of customer relations, including finding new projects, starting new projects, and onsite construction administration as well as setting team schedules, kicking off projects, making design decisions, final checking, sign & sealing, and ensuring delivery of quality product on time, efficiently, and profitably.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET Accredited)
  • 8+ year of Mechanical Engineering experience.
  • PE License Required
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and Excel
  • Ability to mentor junior level staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of Local Codes & Standards
  • Experience with working multiple concurrent projects consisting of various Commercial Projects, Healthcare & Medical, Educational Facilities, Retail & Mixed-Use Developments, Multifamily, etc. for New Buildings and Existing facility upgrades
  • Strong technical leadership and management skills.

DUTIES:
  • Design HVAC including all associated equipment, ductwork, piping, and specifications.
  • Perform HVAC load calculations, ductwork, pipe sizing, and any other calculations required to support the mechanical design.
  • Lead the development of construction documents including design drawings and project specifications.
  • Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions, gather information, meet with clients, and observe construction and help resolve field issues during construction.
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, designers, and drafters to effectively manage design and engineering efforts of systems for new installations, system retrofits, system replacement and system upgrades for a wide variety of projects and project types.
  • Perform project management duties including project planning, managing schedules and budgets to complete work on time and profitably.
  • Coordinate with the client and the design team, including owners, architects, contractors, members of other disciplines, and internal support staff to ensure the design is consistent with the project goals and ensure a fully coordinated interdisciplinary design.
  • Perform construction administrative duties such as preparation of field reports, provide responses to RFIs, process bulletins and addenda, review of shop drawings and submittals, etc.
  • Conduct quality control review of design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
