Family Law Civil Litigation Attorney

We're hiring an attorney to work alongside one of our managing partners where you will be managing a very busy trial calendar for high-asset family law cases and complex civil/ business/ estate litigation. We are open to hiring junior candidates who share our core values, to senior candidates who have already built a book of business. We're looking for candidates who are interested in being on the track for partnership with our firm!

We offer an excellent benefits package, including medical/dental/ vision, 401(k), all standard insurance products, mandated paid time away from the office (you must take at least 3 weeks’ vacation, or you are not eligible for a bonus or raise), and flexibility as to including remote work after 90 days. Starting compensation will be based on your experience, qualifications, and anticipated production. Open to entry level associates to those with 5+ years of experience.

Job Details:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Family Law Civil Litigation Attorney to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with a strong background in family law and civil litigation, possessing the ability to establish and develop their own clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for taking and defending depositions, drafting pleadings, and providing comprehensive counsel to clients during court proceedings. Responsibilities:

1. Provide comprehensive legal counsel to clients on complex family law matters including divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, property division, and prenuptial agreements.
2. Take and defend depositions, draft pleadings, and conduct discovery to prepare for trial.
3. Establish and develop a client base, maintaining strong relationships and providing exceptional client service.
4. Represent clients in court proceedings, presenting evidence and arguments in a compelling manner.
5. Collaborate with legal team to develop effective case strategies, providing guidance and expertise on family law matters.
6. Stay updated on current laws and regulations related to family law and civil litigation, ensuring all legal advice provided is accurate and compliant.
7. Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients, striving for the most favorable outcome.

Qualifications:

1. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
2. Active member in good standing with the State Bar (Virginia).
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in family law civil litigation.
4. Proven ability to establish and develop own client base.
5. Experience in taking and defending depositions and drafting pleadings.
6. Excellent negotiation, advocacy and communication skills.
7. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
8. Ability to manage multiple cases with varying deadlines and complexities.
9. Exceptional interpersonal skills with a commitment to professional ethics and client confidentiality.
10. Proficiency in legal research tools and software.
