Estimator - Civil Construction

Candidates should have heavy civil construction skills and an experience in estimating commercial & private development projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with wet utilities construction that includes water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, concrete structures, duct bank, etc.

Job Details:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Estimator for our Civil Construction projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring that we understand everything required to successfully bid and win the project. This role requires a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of construction processes. The successful applicant will be a key member of our team, directly contributing to our company's success by accurately estimating the costs of our projects, ranging from 1 million to 10 million.

Responsibilities:

1. Analyze and comprehend project plans, requirements, and specifications.
2. Prepare detailed estimates for our projects, including labor, materials, and equipment costs.
3. Utilize construction estimating software such as Planswift, HCSS, and Bluebeam (others considered as well) to prepare cost estimates and proposals.
4. Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure they meet project specifications.
5. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project scope and requirements.
6. Provide detailed reports to the project manager about project cost estimates and factors affecting project costs.
7. Conduct risk analysis for project costs and potential variables.
8. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
9. Keep up-to-date with the latest construction methods, materials, and trends in the industry.

Qualifications:

1. Must have at least 2+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in civil construction.
2. Demonstrated experience with construction estimating software, including Planswift, HCSS, and Bluebeam.
3. Strong knowledge of construction assemblies, materials, systems, and processes.
4. Proven ability to prepare estimates for projects ranging from 1 million to 10 million.
5. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
6. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to clearly convey complex information.
7. Must be detail-oriented, with strong organizational and project management skills.
8. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
9. Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
10. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
