Job Details

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent HIM Manager to join our esteemed organization in the medical industry. This position is a full-time onsite position in our Austin office! We offer a flexible schedule that you would be able to select based on your own needs. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity to play a critical role in managing health information, ensuring the quality, accuracy, accessibility, and security of both paper files and electronic systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective management of medical records, revenue cycle, and ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements. This role is perfect for someone passionate about healthcare, has a deep understanding of medical terminology, and is ready to make a significant impact on patient care through the management of health information.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee and manage all aspects of the Health Information Management (HIM) department, including medical records, EMR systems, and revenue cycle management.
2. Ensure the accuracy, accessibility, and security of all health information in both paper and electronic formats.
3. Develop and implement policies and procedures for the collection, coding, storage, and retrieval of health information.
4. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure all medical records are complete, accurate, and timely.
5. Monitor and ensure compliance with state, federal, and industry regulations and standards.
6. Provide oversight for the release of information to persons and agencies according to regulations.
7. Use medical terminology knowledge to ensure proper documentation and coding.
8. Oversee the processing and submission of requests for patient health information, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
9. Participate in revenue cycle management to ensure the financial sustainability of the organization.
10. Develop and maintain a system for tracking patient records for clinical, legal, and financial purposes.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management or a related field.
2. 3+ years of experience in Health Information Management (HIM) in a healthcare or hospice setting.
3. Certifications such as Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) are preferred.
4. Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
5. Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
6. Experience in revenue cycle management.
7. Familiarity with state and federal regulations related to medical records and health information.
8. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
9. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
10. High attention to detail and accuracy.
