We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Consulting Director of Finance to join our team. This role will provide strategic financial guidance and leadership to our organization, driving financial strategy, planning, and processes. The Consulting Director of Finance will be responsible for overseeing all financial functions including accounting, budget, credit, insurance, tax, and treasury. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in grant management, grant accounting, month-end close, and year-end close. This role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization.
  • Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for the organization including organizational revenue/expense and balance sheet reports, reports to funding agencies, development and monitoring of organizational and contract/grant budgets.
  • Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard the financial assets of the organization.
  • Oversee the production of monthly reports, financial statements and cash flow projections for use by Executive Management, as well as the Audit/Finance Committee and Board of Trustees.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the financial results.
  • Oversee the coordination and activities of independent auditors ensuring all A-133 audit issues are resolved, and all 403(b) compliance issues are met.
  • Oversee business insurance plans and health care coverage analysis.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the inventory of all fixed assets, including assets purchased with government funds (computers, etc.) assuring all are in accordance with federal regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline. MBA, CPA, or related advanced degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position, preferably in a non-profit organization.
  • Proven experience in grant management and grant accounting.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in corporate accounting and financial management.
  • Proficient in month-end close and year-end close processes.
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.
  • Ability to strategize and solve problems.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • An analytical mind, comfortable with numbers.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite, especially in MS Excel.
  • Knowledge of financial software is a plus.
