Job Details

As an Electrical Controls Engineer you will be responsible for designing control systems from scratch for automotive manufacturers. You will handle everything from writing programs to implementation and field start-up.


Job Responsibilities:
  • Crafting customized logic and designs when necessary.
  • Creating system map layouts, sequencing operations, drafting drawing packages, programming PLC logic, and designing HMI screens.
  • Crafting and refining PLC programs encompassing various functionalities such as I/O mapping, network diagnostics, conveyor control, routing, tracking, HMI FIS, IIOT fault messages, and more.
  • Conducting meticulous self-checks on PLC programs to ensure accuracy, including verification of I/O usage and conveyor sequencing.
  • Specifying panel and field materials through the creation of Electrical Bill of Materials (EBMs).
  • Collaborating with management and project teams to establish and uphold project schedules.
  • Participating in meetings, occasionally engaging with clients.

Outside of programming - Field Duties:
  • Assisting in overseeing installations.
  • Conducting start-up and debugging activities at client sites.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in VFD/motor tuning, torque proving, and point-to-point operations (experience in these areas is advantageous).
  • Providing launch support and standby assistance post-commissioning.
  • Collaborating with project management for seamless project execution.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Possession of an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering & Technology, or equivalent technical qualification.
  • 3 years of relevant industry experience within a systems integration context, encompassing control panel and circuit design expertise.

Technical Proficiency:
  • Proficiency in RSLogix 5, 5000, Studio, RS Networx for DeviceNet, ControlNet, EtherNet IP, DriveExecutive, DriveExplorer, PanelBuilder PDS, 1400e; 32, RSView Studio.
  • Familiarity with system architecture, including non-standard material, control panel power requirements, and distribution.
  • Ability to review and interpret specifications and standard practices.
  • Capability to independently assist with installation and debugging processes.
  • Strong technical acumen and the capacity to work both autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Additional technical knowledge/skills in Ford NextGen or GVoss standards, Microsoft Office Suite, and Siemens are considered advantageous.
