Controls Engineer

My client is a food and beverage manufacturer, with 3 Aerosol whipped cream production lines, 5 Freezer pops production lines, Gallon water packaging and a small beverage manufacturing line. They have been in tremendous growth mode and are currently looking for a Controls Engineer focused on PLC Modifications, Troubleshooting, and Continuous Improvement.

The Electrical/Controls Engineer supports all aspects of the manufacturing facilities by providing electrical and controls engineering expertise to various engineering projects as assigned. This position also provides necessary support in coordinating proper maintenance of process equipment and facilities. The Electrical/Controls Engineer assists in identification, analysis, and control of occupational risks and hazards requiring application of professional engineering knowledge, skill, and abilities in a team environment. This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical support to maintain facility and help optimize production process equipment in support of safety, quality, service, and the profit impact activities as well as support and maintain direct plant energy related activities.
• Provide technical support to plant personnel and maintain engineering documentation, CAD, and other drawing files which support project work and engineering.
• Design and programming for automated systems including the use of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA).
• Provides input into planning and scheduling of projects and preparing capital expenditures.
• Consultation with suppliers relating to sourcing, specifying and operating instrumentation and control equipment.
• Hardware and Software integration will be refined on automated equipment used in manufacturing environments for capital equipment valued at over $1M.
• Ability to simultaneously execute multiple complex projects.
• Performs root cause analysis as well as implements sustainable countermeasures on losses related to maintenance.
