Job Details:

As a successful retailer with a strong finance team, we're actively seeking a Controller who will play a pivotal role in managing and improving our financial processes. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned professional looking to make a significant impact on our growing organization. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading a financial team, maintaining strong controls, and driving financial strategy.

Responsibilities:

As the Permanent Controller, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of accounting and financial operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP, federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Your strategic planning and vision will guide our financial direction and growth. Key responsibilities include:

1. Overseeing the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
2. Directing and coordinating the company's financial planning and budget management functions.
3. Developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive job cost systems.
4. Ensuring timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process.
5. Enhancing and/or developing, implementing, and enforcing policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
6. Providing technical financial advice and knowledge to others within the financial discipline.
7. Supervising the training and development of the accounting staff.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be a strategic individual with 3+ years of managerial accounting and financial management experience and meet the following qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting required, CPA preferred.
2. Multi-unit and multi-state retail industry experience is highly preferred.
3. Progressive leadership roles in Accounting.
4. Strong understanding of GAAP.
5. Demonstrated experience in building, developing, and mentoring an accounting team.
6. Experience with Great Plains is highly desired.
7. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
8. Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
9. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
10. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
