Controller

Based in Costa Mesa, we are a vertically integrated cannabis company providing an easy and consistent way for consumers to enjoy cannabis. We have become a California powerhouse with cultivation, manufacturing, extraction, distribution, retail, and a portfolio of brands that create an array of products that make a difference in people’s lives.

We are looking to hire a Controller who will be responsible for executing accounting tasks and strategies and performing day-to-day financial activities.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of the accounting function, including monthly close process, financial statement preparation, and internal controls.
• Manage a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and ensuring efficient completion of assigned tasks.
• Partner with the CFO and VP of Finance to develop and implement financial strategies, budgets, and forecasts.
• Consolidate financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Work closely with external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit process.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including operations, sales, and marketing, to provide financial analysis and support.
• Oversee tax accounting functions and collaborate with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Manage cash flow and develop strategies to optimize working capital.
• Stay abreast of industry regulations and accounting standards specific to the cannabis industry.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA designation preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a corporate controller or similar role, preferably within the cannabis industry.
• In-depth knowledge of GAAP.
• Strong understanding of internal controls and financial reporting processes.
• Proven experience in managing and leading an accounting team.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization.
• Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
• A strong work ethic and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
