Our next Financial Controller will have a combined role of Office Manager and Lead Accountant - overseeing the day-to-day operations of managing the office and providing Controller responsibilities.

Responsibilities
Office Management:

• Manage office administration tasks, including scheduling, and organizing the office for efficient workflow, and correspondence.
• Oversee the company calendar.
• Coordinate with the Human Resources provider.

Accounting:

• Manage the full accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, certified payroll, fixed-assets, month-end and year-end closes.
• Manage trial balance accounts and schedules.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Establish and document internal controls, implementing safety procedures, and cross-training.
• Analyze financial data and provide owner insights.
• Maintain a strong understanding of tax regulations and deadlines.
• Manage and maintain external lending, financial, and government reporting requirements.
• Ensure construction job compliance, i.e.: certified payroll, insurance certificates, release compliance.
• Manage multiple union agreements.
• Coordinate payments and releases with vendors and service providers.
• Report monthly union dues.
• Prepare appropriate certified payroll tax reports for labor compliance to general contractors.

Software Proficiency:

• High level of experience with Sage 100 Accounting Software or similar experience including job cost and certified payroll
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Construction Industry Experience: A good understanding of construction accounting principles and practices is a plus, including construction-in-progress job accounting.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a progressive accounting role.
• Experience working in a construction environment is a plus.
• Proven experience with Sage 100 Accounting Software or similar at a high level.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
