Job Details

We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee our financial operations and ensure financial integrity and efficiency within our organization.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage the full cycle of accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Oversee job costing, payroll processing, and the preparation of financial and tax documents.
  • Conduct full-cycle month-end closing activities, including analysis, to ensure accuracy of the financial statements.
  • Prepare sworn construction statements, collect lien waivers from subcontractors and review the escrow agreements/settlement statements as needed to record cash receipts.
  • Responsible for sales tax submissions and income tax workpaper preparations for the external tax preparer
  • Manage and forecast cash flow, and present financial reports to senior management, highlighting any significant changes or areas requiring attention.
  • Develop and maintain financial records in our accounting system, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
  • Process all invoices received via a specific email address, route them for approval, manage weekly check runs, and handle payment distributions, primarily through checks.
  • Monitors subcontractors business licenses and certificates of insurance and assists with insurance responsibilities
  • Engage in weekly production meetings
  • Prepare a brief narrative for monthly meetings, outlining financial activities and year-over-year comparisons.

Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience in a multifaceted accounting role, preferably within the construction or related industries but not required
  • Advanced Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to manage financial systems and budgets, thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of explaining complex financial information in an understandable way.
  • Ability to work independently
