Job description
We are looking for an energetic and dedicated Assistant Project Manager to take on the responsibility of several fast-moving projects. The company is looking to create a powerful team for future projects in Southern California and is seeking an individual with professional aspirations. The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for the assisting in the planning, coordination, and completion of construction projects. They are involved in all phases of construction from budgeting, bidding, cost control, client relations, through closeout. They report to the Senior Project Manager.

The Assistant Project Manager must have initiative, flexibility, imagination, and perseverance to perform in this position. Also, must have 5+ years’ experience in hospitality renovation and construction projects.

RESPONSIBLITIES
  • Support the Project Manager and Project Administrative in day-to-day construction project management. Liaison between the owner, architect engineer, and subcontractors.
  • Process administrative work: including change orders, process pay applications, organize, and review plans.
  • Create, track, distribute and log all submittals.
  • Prepare and follow up on RFI’s.
  • Interpret drawings, specification, and field issues.
  • Material and equipment procurement, plan schedule, conduct and coordinate assigned project work.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate the technical and management aspects of projects.
  • Program maintenance and updates utilizing company construction program software for directory/ contacts, uploading plans & documents. Project communication and creation of various project binders
  • Monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices & company standard, plus maintain safety document and assist in any safety directives.
  • Facilities and maintain regular contact with project clients.
  • Handle all paperwork and coordination for assigned projects.
  • Prepare and follow up on change orders. Award change order work to subs.
  • Monitor the project’s trade specific schedule and submittal log.
  • Distribute sketches, shop drawings, submittals, schedules, and punch lists to subcontractor and site superintendent.
  • Develop and manage subcontractor and supplier relations.
  • Ensure that all projects are meeting production timeline benchmarks.
  • Communicate and execute all procurement needs on a timely basis.
  • Strong computer skills needed.
REQUIREMENTS
  • 5+ years’ experience in hospitality renovation and construction projects.
  • 2 years minimum of Construction Assistant Project Management experience.
  • Background in Hotel, Restaurant and TI construction trades
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, business, or construction management or equivalent combination of experience and/or training within a technical field.
  • Motivated and capable of overseeing several projects simultaneously. Fun, dynamic, energetic, and positive personality.
  • Conflict resolution skills a must.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Must have the ability to relate and interact with an upper-end clientele.
  • Must provide complete project list.
