Our client, a leading player in the engineering industry, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive team. The CFO will play a key role in developing, monitoring, and evaluating overall corporate strategy with the CEO and leaders of business units with emphasis on bottom line performance, working capital, and enhancing shareholder value. This position will report directly to the CEO and assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company.

Responsibilities

1. Provide strategic management of the accounting and finance functions.
2. Direct the preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, reports to shareholders, tax returns, and reports for government regulatory agencies.
3. Oversee accounting department, budget preparation, and audit functions. Meet regularly with department heads to keep informed and to offer direction.
4. Review reports to analyze projections of sales and profit against actual figures, budgeted expenses against final totals, and suggests methods of improving the planning process as appropriate.
5. Confer with the CEO and COO to coordinate and prioritize planning.
6. Implement ERP systems across the organization to streamline financial processes and increase efficiency.
7. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation, consulting with outside advisors, and filing financial reports. Advise management of actions and potential risks.
8. Arrange for audits as required and appropriate.
9. Manage budgeting and forecasting initiatives, providing detailed and accurate cash flow projections.
10. Develop and implement finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures.
11. Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards.
12. Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.

Qualifications

1. A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. An MBA, CPA, or related designation is preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position.
3. Solid experience in coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments.
4. A proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization.
5. Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
6. Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
7. Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, board of directors, and staff.
8. Ability to operate as an effective tactical as well as strategic thinker.
9. Experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.
10. Experience with ERP system implementation and management.
11. Strong knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
12. Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.
13. Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills.
14. Past experience successfully partnering with IT staff to manage critical financial management systems.
