Job Details

The BDM will be responsible for the management and coordination of product line business capture for the company at selected strategic accounts. This includes the identification of new business opportunities and development of win strategies for business capture.
Scope:

The BDM role is an individual contributor who will collaborate with senior functional leaders and technical experts across the company. The BDM will report directly to the Vice President of Sales.
Travel:

Must be able to travel more than 50% depending on the needs of the business. Travel will be regional and include Prime/OEM meetings, distributor/Rep meetings, sales events such as trade shows, customer site visits with either sales personnel or distributors or Reps, and corporate meetings.

Key Objectives:
The successful BDM must produce the following actions and results:

STRATEGIC SELLING: Own the development of strategic and/or tactical plans to win profitable new business. This includes:
  • Utilizing research, obtains marketing intelligence and competitive data pertaining to potential targeted pursuits to develop win strategies.
  • Provide price to win and win strategy inputs to engineering and sales staff for preparation and/or presentation of proposals to customers.
  • Provides voice of the customer feedback to the sales, engineering and senior staff to ensure that updated or new company technologies/capabilities match with new and emerging customer requirements.

SALES: Responsible to maintain EBITDA in year one and position for growth in year two by focusing on the following:
  • Coordinate and conduct customer visits and perform research to understand current and emerging customer needs and requirements.
  • Utilize the district sales manager, marketing and engineering resources as applicable as an Integrated BD Team approach coordinates activities supporting key new development opportunities at the strategic accounts that best utilize application of the company’s technical
and management capabilities.
  • Functions as Capture Lead on assigned pursuits through Bid/No Bid decision. Responsible for execution of front end business development. Participates, with guidance, in decisions regarding teaming and other agreements required for pursuits.
  • Building of long term relationships with key decision makers at the selected strategic accounts.

FORECASTS: Generates and maintains Orders Forecasts for selected strategic account activities. Coordinates information and activities with the Business Unit Managers.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors Degree required; BS Electrical Engineering degrees preferred. MBA a plus.
Experience: Up to 10 years of broad business knowledge with depth of expertise in sales within the aerospace and defense industry or active component semiconductor industry.
Demonstrated ability to drive results meeting business goals while exceeding customer expectations. Excellent sales experience in aerospace and/or defense electronics. Previous sales experience in military electronics considered a plus. Must have good financial acumen.
